Hemlington Lake is set within 39 acres of open parkland, five miles south of Middlesbrough town centre. Find it on Google Maps here.

It’s the perfect place for dog walking, running, or just soaking up the sun. Watch out for wildlife including swans, geese, and ducks.

The area around the lake has a large selection of children’s play equipment, a skate park, recreation centre, metal sculptures, walking track, fishing platforms and more.

Walking and running

There’s a 1.5km route around the whole lake which is a mix of tarmac and trail paths.

Junior Parkrun

There’s a Parkrun for 4 to 14 year olds that happens at Hemlington Lake every Sunday at 9am.

Fishing at Hemlington lake

There are several fishing platforms around the lake, and fishing is allowed so long as you have permission from Middlesbrough Council or membership with the Hemlington Angling Club.

Hemlington Recreation Centre

Hemlington Lake Recreation Centre is a large community centre with four hireable annex buildings. It’s operated by a registered charity to provide activities that benefit local people and the wider community.
