Rivers, beaches, forests, moors, all on our doorstep! Days out in stunning countryside, surfing at the coast or hiking in the North York Moors – it’s all an option here.

Where is Middlesbrough?

Nestled away in a region that’s the country’s best kept secret, we are surprising and comforting in equal measure.

As the natural centre of the Tees Valley region, an area home to around 670,000 people, we’ve got stacks to offer you, however you like to live or spend your precious time.

Our town centre is being transformed with modern urban living. Why not check out some of our lush woodland park walks only a stone’s throw from the town centre?

The oldest part of town, close to the waterfront, is being brought back to life as we approach Middlesbrough’s 200th birthday.

From our beautiful parks like Albert Park and Stewart Park, to the town’s arts and heritage venues, there is much to see and do.

On a weekend our independent bars and restaurants are lively and welcoming. Check out our favourite food and drink here.

We are home to proud institutions including Middlesbrough Football Club and Teesside University.

We are a short car or train journey – 15-20 minutes – from stunning sands at places like Saltburn, Marske and Redcar along the unrivalled Yorkshire coast.

We also have giant woodlands and Roseberry Topping within easy reach. That’s scenery you’ll never forget and still be back home in time for tea!

We Are Middlesbrough guides you through the best events, places to visit and venues to enjoy in and around our town.
