A new era begins for two of Middlesbrough’s most popular running events as they come together for an exciting weekend of sport, celebration and community spirit.

Middlesbrough Runs 2026 will feature the Middlesbrough 10K, the Ali Brownlee 5K, and Paula Radcliffe’s Families on Track – all organised by Events of the North in partnership with Middlesbrough Council and Everyone Active.

Events

The 2026 Middlesbrough Runs events will be held over the weekend of Saturday 29 August – Sunday 30 August.

Saturday 29 August – Paula Radcliffe’s Families on Track at Albert Park

On Saturday 29 August 2026, Paula’s Families on Track will come to Albert Park. The event is the brainchild of athletics legend Paula Radcliffe and gives family groups of all ages the opportunity to get active together by completing a 10K relay in a controlled and safe environment.

The focus of Families on Track is on participation and fun, and the event is suitable for every generation and ability.

Sunday 30 August – Middlesbrough 10K & Ali Brownlee 5K

The weekend continues with two iconic races through the heart of Middlesbrough.

The Middlesbrough 10K and Ali Brownlee 5K will both be held on the morning of Sunday 30 August 2026, following routes around the town.

  • The Middlesbrough 10K welcomes runners of all levels to take on a fast and friendly route. The Middlesbrough 10K was launched 20 years ago, and has become a popular fixture for runners not just from this area, but from across the UK and beyond.
  • The Ali Brownlee 5K honours the legacy of the much-loved broadcaster and community champion. 2026 will mark the 10th anniversary of Alastair Brownlee’s passing, and organisers will be working closely with Ali’s family to celebrate his life and legacy through Middlesbrough Runs.
